LAFHA is a tax free allowance that can be provided in Australia to cover the additional
costs incurred whilst living and working away from home.
The broad criteria for eligibility is that the employee is incurring additional
expenses, is relocating for a temporary period of time and has the intent to move
back to their original place of residence. This intention should be reassessed every
12 months.
This allowance is frequently used by temporary overseas skilled workers, working
holiday makers and Australian citizens moving interstate for work.
