A Roadmap of your move to the UK

3-6 Months to Go
Unless you have a UK or EU passport, you will need to organise a visa for the UK.

1-3 Months to Go
Now that your visa application is underway, it's time to start looking for your
flights. Remember it is very important to get travel insurance as you are not eligible

6 Weeks to Go
Opening a UK bank account can be one of the most difficult and frustrating

5 Weeks to Go
Try and organise all those nitty gritty details before you leave so you can focus
on having fun on your trip. Visit your dentist, doctor and organise a power of attorney
who can act on your behalf whilst you're away. Make sure this is someone you trust
implicitly; your parents are generally a good choice.
4 Weeks to Go
Notify the post office of the address you would like your post forwarded to. Your
parents or power of attorney is advisable. If you rent, ask your landlord for a reference, this may help when looking for accommodation
in the UK. Plan your going away party!
2 Weeks to Go
Gather together your bank statements showing you have sufficient funds to support
yourself in the UK. Be sure to photocopy all your documentation including your passport, flight tickets,
visa, insurance documents and credit cards. It is a good idea to leave a copy with
your parents/power of attorney and to also distribute copies throughout your luggage.
It is also wise to take some extra passport photos with you.
1 Week to Go
Time to start packing! Enjoy your last few home cooked meals and stock up on Aussie/New Zealand treats!
Confirm your flight and double check you have everything.
