The UK visa system is one of the most complex in the world, with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) using a tiered system to distinguish between permits. Each tier can consist of up to four sub-tiers and include different categories, such as Ancestry visas, Spouse visas, Right of Abode and more.

Any errors in your application will result in refusal. If your application is refused, you’ll have to start the entire process from the beginning, including paying the fee again.

Three phase visa application process

Phase 1 – Online form

Choose the correct tier and subclass of visa, complete the form online, pay the associated fee and book your biometric interview.

Phase 2 – Biometric interview

This takes place at a visa application centre and requires that you submit your biometric data and submit your documents, including your original passport.

Phase 3 – Processing

Your documents and passport are sent by the visa application centre to the processing centre where your documents are assessed and a visa is granted or refused.

UKVI can take up to three months to process a visa, depending on the type of visa, time of year and whether further information or further checks are required.

What our customers say

1st Contact rebrands to Sable International.

In 2020 we merged with our big brother Sable International.

The accountants, brokers, advisers and caseworkers that you used to deal with will not be going anywhere as the entire 1st Contact team will be in the same roles at Sable International. You'll still get the same great service, just under a new name.
